Negotiation News: Volume 2, Issue 3

Sean Judge

With summer into full swing, and the LASC mediation program now closed, it's high time to explore alternatives for those with litigated cases.

I am pleased to invite you to the Southern California Mediation Association's "Select A Mediator" event that will be held on July 16, 2013 at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills. This event is cosponsored by the Beverly Hills Bar Assn., the Orange County Bar Assn., the San Fernando Valley Bar Assn., and the Santa Monica Bar Assn. We will be demonstrating the Select-A- Mediator feature on the SCMA website. This feature will make mediation going forward much easier to schedule and will allow parties and counsel to obtain pertinent information about mediators. Here's the link to the invitation: Select-A-Mediator Launch.

For those of you who would like further information on the court closures, the elimination of court-ordered ADR in Los Angeles, and their effect, please feel free to read my article of December 2012.

  • Reduced Fee Structure For Cases With Maximum Claimed Damages Under $50,000.00

I am offering a revised fee structure for cases where the amount in controversy is under $50,000.00. Under the LASC ADR program, cases in which the claimed damages were $50,000.00 or less were eligible to be referred to court-ordered mediation. In an effort to continue to serve the parties who have cases below $50,000.00 with one plaintiff and one defendant, my fees will be reduced for the duration of the mediation. My hourly rate on cases in which the claimed damages in dispute are above $50,000.00 remains the same. Please feel free to contact me to discuss at (818) 610-8799 or sean@judgemediation.com.

  • Archives

For those of you who missed them, here's an archive of the previous newsletters:

  • Charity of the Month

A portion of mediation fees generated in the months of July through September will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. For more information, please visit the website of the National MS Society.

Thanks again for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you in mediation soon!
